Archive for the ‘News’ Category v2.0

Monday, September 15th, 2008

It has been a long time but my site has finally had a makeover.

I have added a blog to the site which replaced the outdated guestbook and news section.  This makes it much easier for me to post articles so expect some great stuff. v2.0 went live on the 14/09/2008.

Hard to believe it’s already the year 2008. I wanted to write some news earlier but haven’t had the time to. :(

I started my internship in August as a software developer/tester with Cognethos and have been flat out with work ever since. At the end of January I will have completed my internship but having proved myself worth keeping I have been offered a position to continue working there. :)

I absolutely love working at Cognethos so I accepted the position. My time wasn’t wasted with trivial tasks. I work on real projects for customers and do my best to keep everyone happy. Right now I’m involved in a project worth millions of dollars. This has to be one of the most interesting projects that I have worked on. A system is being developed which involves a number of organisations and everyone is working on different tasks simultaneously and in the end things are supposed to come together and just work. I found it extremely interesting writing hundreds of lines of code that didn’t even compile because I did not have other parts, which I was waiting for someone else to complete. At the end it just worked. I can’t describe the satisfaction I got when I saw it working. hehe

I go back to university at the end of February, don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing :p

One thing is certain; UTS administration isn’t making it easy for me. I’m trying to swap some subjects but apparently it will take weeks before its processed because they have a large number of these requests to get through. This is all nice and good but doesn’t really help me if the registration closing date is just around the corner. :(

On the social side of things, I have started going out with Vanessa and spending as much time with her as I can. She also goes to UNI and works in IT, which makes things easier for us since we are on the same wave length :)

Being summer in Australia we spend a lot of time at different beaches in and outside of Sydney. It’s refreshing to escape the city, relax and just enjoy yourself :)

I could go on and on about my life and the last 6 months but I should stop here. hehe

I think it’s safe to say that this year will end even faster than last year. :( Now I have to juggle work, uni, soccer, gym and my social life in general.

End of semester

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

I have been doing UNI work flat out that I haven’t had time to update the site.

The semester is finally over but I still have exams and a major project to complete. Once that is over at the end of the month expect another update from me :)

I need to complete my internship so I have applied for a few places. Fingers crossed I get one of the jobs.

If anyone is wondering how football is going, I can tell you that we are 1st on the table.

On the weekend friends and I went bowling which was fun, it always is. After playing three games we went to the city for dinner. I got myself Chicken Laksa and it was the best Chicken Laksa I ever had :D

I have also made a new Website (CyberTone Systems) which you can find in the portfolio > web section.

Well, this has been a small update brought to you by Beno. Now back to my exam study, wish me luck.

Keeping busy

It seems that my life revolves around UNI work :(

I have so much work to get done in a short period, everything is just full on. So I haven’t had the time to write anything new in here. I spent the night last Monday at UNI finishing of a lab for Embedded Systems. In case you are wandering what the lab was about – I had to write some low level C to write/read from an EEPROM.

I should mention that football is going well; we had our first game for the season a week ago and won 3:2 :)

If you take a look at the guestbook you’ll see that an old friend from Germany found me through Google, it’s been nice catching up with him. I haven’t spoken to him in over 8 years and was surprised to hear he moved to the USA a few years ago.

Back to UNI

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

UNI started two weeks ago and there’s already a lot of work to be done but on the bright side some of it is very interesting.

In a subject called Embedded Systems our project is to develop a simple operating system for a Motorola chip using C.

I’m also doing Software Architecture this semester, don’t think I’ll enjoy this much hehe
but let’s see how things go.

The third subject being done this semester is Database Fundamentals, an easy subject :)

I should also mention that Google has indexed my web site :)

Friday, February 16th, 2007

For history purposes, I should mention that the website went online and available to the public on Friday, 16th February 2007.

In just over a week I have had over 200 people visit the site and over 7200 hits.

90.3% of those people use a Windows operating system, 5.3% Linux, 3.5% Macintosh and the rest unknown.

To my surprise 47.3% use Firefox while 41.5% Internet Explorer, 6.1% Opera and the rest is just small fish. I thought most would still be using Internet Explorer.

I have made small changes to the site, mainly code wise from suggestions I received. One or two people said that the website is dull. The whole point is to keep things simple, easy to navigate and the colours do a great job. Looking from a professional point of view the website is excellent, at least that’s what I have been told by people that are in the web design business and I happen to agree with them :)

Up and running

Monday, February 12th, 2007

It has finally arrived, my personal web site :)

I always wanted to make one but could never find the time to do so. I started working on designs early 2006 but couldn’t come up with a design I liked, UNI started and I had to stop. In December 2006 I was looking at other personal web sites and once again I was inspired. The site you see here is the end result, its Strict HTML 4.1 compliant and contains no CSS errors :)

I got my own domain and web space, something I did not have in the past. If I’m going to have a proper web site that will be kept up to date with regular updates, it’s only fair that I have those two services as well :)

At the moment the news section is static, it doesn’t use any kind of CMS but I plan on changing that in near future.
